The former chief executive and founder of hipster clothing brand American Apparel, Dov Charney, is claiming USD40 million in damages for a breach of employment contract, his attorney said.
The company’s board ousted Charney in December, six months after suspending him, for allegedly misusing funds and helping spread improper photos of a former employee.
The claims for damages, first reported by Bloomberg, include about USD6 million in severance, USD1.3 million in vacation-time pay, about USD10 million for emotional distress and 13 million shares of the company.
