Singapore's retail sales increased 6.1 percent in October 2011 compared to September 2011, the data released by Department of Statatics indicated.

Excluding motor vehicles, retail sales in the city state rose 4 percent.

Compared to a year ago, retail sales went up 8.5 percent in October 2011. Excluding motor vehicles, retail sales increased 8.6 percent.

Sales of food & beverage services remained at a similar level in October 2011 compared to the previous month. Compared to a year ago, sales of food & beverage services went up 5.2 percent in October 2011.
