New airline, cruise and ferry workshop plus Asia-Pacific workshop at TFWA World Exhibition

TFWA has broadened the scope of a key business workshop which traditionally forms part of the annual TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes to include onboard as well as inflight duty free and travel retail sales.

The Airline, Cruise & Ferry Workshop will take place from 8am to 9am Tuesday, 20 September. While the retailing environment and customer profiles may differ significantly between these channels, which are almost equal in duty free and travel retail sales, there may be lessons to be learned and business practices which may be transferable.

The speakers leading this workshop will be Richard Cushing, senior vice president & general manager EMEA of inflight technology experts GuestLogix; Trevor Moore, buying & merchandising director of luxury cruise retailer Harding Brothers, Pierre Freyssinet, CEO, Uleo Holding and Magnus Ehrenberg, chief executive of Ehrenberg Kommunikation, a media agency working with the north European ferry sector.

The AsiaPacific Workshop on Wednesday, 21 September from 8am to 9am will focus on "Emerging Asia". While a number of AsiaPacifics major markets have been the focus of this session in recent years, there are a number of other high growth potential markets where consumer confidence and purchasing power are on the increase such as Indonesia, Vietnam and The Philippines.

Marion Buttler, regional director Europe of the Pacific Asia Travel Association will look at the growth in travel and tourism in AsiaPacific markets. Sunil Tuli, president Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association and Peter Mohn, partner of m1nd-set will look at behavioural and others factors which impact duty free and travel retail in Asia Pacific quoting highlights from the APTRA Consumer Research from the previous six months. Finally Mathieu Vanhalst, International Sales Manager, TFWA will look at some of the infrastructure projects underway and put the opportunities into duty free and travel retail perspective.

TFWA World Exhibition will run from Sunday 18 to Friday 23 September 2011.
