The Retail Academy and GfK Asia forms partnership to help retailers in Singapore succeed in the industry

The Retail Academy of Singapore have entered into a joint partnership with global market research firm GfK to offer programmes aimed at meeting the changing needs of the retail industry; to raise its professional capabilities and take it to the next level.

At a recent Retail Academy-GfK event entitled Own the Future – Why Consumer Choices and Experiences Shape the Future of Retail, GfK was officially acknowledged as a Retail Partner for its contribution. A Retail Partner certificate was presented by Dr Jannie Chan, chairman of the Retail Academy of Singapore to Stanley Kee, managing director of GfK Southeast Asia.

"GfK, with its global reach and expansive experience in the retail industry, is the ideal partner to help us further advance the mission of the Retail Academy," commented Dr Chan. "The industry is always changing and retailers constantly need current and meaningful market insights to diagnose and plan for their businesses, which is where the knowledge and expertise of the market research professionals comes in."

The first of the four series of "Own the Future" workshop is targeted to commence in March 2012, and take place at regular quarterly intervals over next year. Essential retailer topics which will be covered include category planning, realising retailer’s market share, driving business optimization, and sharpening e-retailing capability. In these sessions, GfK will provide past market data to support and enrich the learning process.

"GfK is indeed very honoured to be presented this opportunity to collaborate with the Retail Academy," said Kee. "We are also excited that we are able to give back to the industry in the area of education development with the sharing of our expertise. Together, we look forward to working hand in hand with the Retail Academy and the retailers, to help raise the bar of retailing in Singapore."
