“Pop-up” stores on the increase across Australia

Shopping centre landlords in Australia are joining their suburban strip counterparts by offering a larger range of ”pop-up” stores to keep offerings relevant to customers.

The model of short-term leasing, while not new, is being reinvented due to the growth in the internet and need for online shops to connect with customers in the traditional mall.

The founder of online leasing company Pop Up Brands, Marianella Watman, estimates there are billions lost in sales by bricks and mortar stores to the internet.
