DHL Supply Chain completes new logistics center in Japan

DHL Supply Chain opened its new logistics center in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Tokyo this month to support continued business growth in Japan.

The 44,000 square meter facility will add 20 percent to DHL’s warehousing footprintin the country and will operate a multi-user campus with labor, resources and infrastructure shared across different customer operations.

The global logistics provider reportedly invested USD50 million in the purpose-built facility.

"Our investment in the new Sagamihara Logistics Centre is evidence of DHL’s long term commitment to the logistics market in Japan," said Victor Mok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain North Asia. "Incorporating cutting-edge technologies and best warehousing practices the new facility is now ready to operate and is the ideal solution for retail, consumer and healthcare customers."

It is likewise envisioned to provide a platform for offering a range of value-added activities, including co-packing, labeling or technical services."
