Charter Hall Retail sees no material impact from Australia’s flood

Sydney-based property fund manager and developer Charter Hall Group said on Wednesday that no Charter Hall properties have been materially impacted by the New South Wales or Victorian floods.

Charter Hall Retail Real Estate Investment Trust’s (REIT’s) Queensland properties did not experience any material flood impacts and all retail centres are open and trading. Only two properties, Allenstown Plaza in Rockhampton and Caboolture Shopping Centre experienced water in the lower levels of basement car parking, with no impact to the tenants trading areas.

Home HQ Ipswich, owned by Charter Hall’s Direct Retail Fund, experienced minor flooding to the staff car parking area only, however the centre is open and trading.

To assist the communities affected by the Queensland floods, Charter Hall has committed to an initial contribution of AUD100,000 (USD100,531) across Charter Hall Group, Charter Hall Office REIT and Charter Hall Retail REIT to the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal, with Charter Hall Retail REIT also having donated vouchers totalling AUD20,000 to flood affected families in the Rockhampton area. The Group is also matching employee donations to this Appeal to a total of AUD50,000 (USD50,315), resulting in a targeted total contribution across the Charter Hall Group and employees of AUD220,000 (USD221,133).
