Asia Expo (APA) 2010, the agricultural tradeshow, is set to be opened this month. The show will be held in Hall 5G of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) on 13 to 15 December 2010.
APA has attracted suppliers representing Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Hong Kong, mainland China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan, the US, etc. Overseas groups from Indonesia, Japan and Korea have set up pavilions at the venue to promote the specialties of their countries. Chinese pavilions are expected from Fujian, Gansu, Hunan, Jiangsu, Longyan, Ningbo, Tianjin and Zhejiang. Exhibitors of the Chinese pavilions are targeting the exploration of overseas markets like Asia, North America, EU, Middle East and Africa.
Exhibits in this inaugural year cover a comprehensive range of products namely beef, yellow tail fish (hamachi), pumpkin, peas, corn, potato, ginger, broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms, navel oranges, seafood, tomato paste, coconut, luwak coffee, rice, sugar, organic products, chestnut products, a wide range of quality processed products, etc.
A spotlight at the show will be the Agricultural Conference Asia (ACA) which aims to provide a meeting place for traders to learn and to update themselves of the latest market trends. Speakers include government officials, university professors, trade associations from Australia, mainland China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc. They will share their views on food safety, trend of organic products, trading opportunities for Taiwan Aqua Products, sustainable methods of certified organic livestock, investment opportunity in agricultural industry in China, a snapshot into the Australian vegetable industry, to name but a few.

Also, the market is opened for the international markets, so it is worth starting from Hong Kong," said Mr. Masahiro Ono, Section Chief, Distribution Division, Saga Prefectural Government. Hong Kong is the No.1 export destination of Japan’s agricultural products. Japanese exhibitors have chosen APA as their window to promote to the Asian market.
APA is supported by international organisations and institutes including AUSVEG, Biological Farmers of Australia, China Organic Food Certification Centre, Chinese Organic Agricertification Association, Hong Kong Imported Vegetable Wholesale Merchants Association, IFOAM, Union Forsea Corporation and Chinese provincial agro product officials from Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Hunan.
