110th Canton Fair to open next month

The countdown is now on for the opening of the 110th Canton Fair, kicking off in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, 15 October . The biannual Fair will boast a unique mix of cutting-edge exhibition space, innovative services and specialised events, and has long been regarded as the premier forum for those looking to access the burgeoning Chinese marketplace.

"The 110th session of the Canton Fair is a significant milestone for the event and everyone involved is proud and excited," says Wang Zhiping, Secretary General of the Fair. "On its 55th anniversary, the Fair is more instrumental than ever in developing trade between China and the world. We look forward to welcoming and hosting participants."

The spring edition resulted in trade valued at more than USD 36 billion, a year-on-year increase of nearly 6 percent. More than 207,000 traders from over 150 countries passed through the 1.16 million square meter facility, and deals enacted between top-tier Chinese suppliers and American, European, Russian and Brazilian buyers were up across the board.

The 110th Fair will bring an unprecedented number of leading Chinese suppliers offering eco-friendly, competitive products. In line with China’s 12th five-year plan, a key objective of the event is to boost imports – overseas companies have been widely encouraged to use the event to showcase their products and services to prospective Chinese buyers.

"China’s trade surplus is significantly down this year," says Zhong Shan, China’s Vice Minister of Commerce. "By allocating 20,000 square meters of exhibition space to promoting imports, and by maintaining its excellent raft of services for overseas attendees, the 110th Canton Fair is clear committed to continuing this trend. Boosting two-way trade is a win-win situation for every company and country concerned."
