HK International Jewellery Show to open in Feb
HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2012, Asia's largest spring jewellery show is set to open on 16 February. The five-day tradeshop will continue to 20 February at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, hosting some 3,000 exhibitors from 46 countries & regions.
The undiminished market desire for high-end jewellery is indicated by a 25 percent growth in exhibitor number in the Hall of Extraordinary, which features exceptional jewellery pieces with high quality stones set in exquisite designs. The diamonds and precious stones section has also increased by 15 percent. Among them will be hidden gems to be found, as well as classic pieces to be appreciated, like the "The Eternal Collection" jadeite classified to be appropriate for permanent exhibits by the National Museum of mainland China, which is owned by exhibitor Fook Wing Tong Jade & Treasure Limited.
As well as being an important trading platform, the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will hold a series of seminars and parades during the fair, to disseminate market intelligence on topics such as the "Outlook for Gold in Emerging Markets” and inspire buyers with showpieces on live models.
The industry as a whole will be boomed by the creativity of jewellery designers, both established and aspiring, who are participating in the two competitions allied to the 2012 fair.
The 13th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition has taken "Soaring Dragon" as its theme. In Open and Student Groups, designs are judged on Creativity & Innovation, Aesthetics & Craftsmanship, Marketability, Wearability and Topic Relevance. Being a finalist in this annual event carries prestige and 2012 finalists will be announced during the Press Conference before the fair opens.
