HK’s Red Goodss & Goodss launches new office with “Chinese Upcycling” concept

Red Goodss Hong Kong Retail Design Consultant’s & Goodss Design Consultancy has recently launched its new office in Chai Wan, Hong Kong Island with a new concept of "Chinese Upcycling". The new office was refurbished from an old print shop warehouse to Red Goodss new design studio home-office.

The design of the new office has been given a rather slick second life as a series of upcycled interior design elements, all through the even application of reused objects and materials under the principle of the balance in Chinese Feng Shui theory.

"Chinese Upcycling" is a new philosophy of "Reborn" object and space by turning the negative aspect to positive feature. Aside from saving money by reusing old furniture and materials, the design settings of decoration and space management have followed the balance of Chinese five-elements composition. It has been divided into five main areas that embrace people with warmth, passion and a flowing Chi:

  • Metal – Living room & library area for clients and staff
  • Wood – Storage Area for Production and storage general goods
  • Water – Studio Area for Designers & Director
  • Fire – Sales & Showroom Area for Sales & Marketing
  • Earth – Centre Work Area for Account & Human Resource

This strategy is a Chinese idea of balance and it is of course an eco-friendly move for a good recycling. Everything from tables and couches to fixtures and walls are given a new life and a sense of togetherness that these odds and ends never would have had without the simple twist of application and arrangement. They arguably look and feel better than they did new, especially to those with eccentric modernist tastes.
