The Coffee Club eyes Malaysia for international expansion

Eyeing international expansion for Australia’s largest home-grown café, The Coffee Club Group (The Coffee Club) recently signed a licencing agreement with Warung Sentral SdnBhd in Malaysia.

The Coffee Club aims to see at least 10 The Coffee Club stores across Malaysia by 2017. The store rollout plans are still being finalised but the first The Coffee Club store is expected to open in December 2013.

Jason Ball, CEO, The Coffee Club, said the new venture in Malaysia is an important step forward in the future growth of the brand as Asia represents huge growth potential.

The Coffee Club also recently signed a deal with Minor Food Group and Al Nasser Holdings to expand the brand into the Middle East and North Africa. In early July, the first The Coffee Club store was opened in Maldives by Minor.

Since opening its doors in Brisbane in 1989, The Coffee Club has become Australia’s largest home-grown
café group with more than 329 stores across seven countries. It has 66 international stores with 46 in New Zealand, 12 in Thailand, 3 in China, 3 in Egypt, 1 in the Maldives and 1 in New Caledonia.
