One year after UK high street brand Topshop opened its first flagship store in Hong Kong, US high street brand J. Crew will launch its first Asia-Pacific stores in the city, according to Chinese fashion news website nofashion.cn.
The US retail giant is going to open a women’s flagship store in Central’s IFC Mall with an area of 3,200 square feet and a men’s flagship store in On Lan Street with an area of 2,100 sqf.
J.Crew went global in August 2011 with the opening of its first Canadian store in Toronto. Its e-commerce site was rolled out to over 100 countries in early 2012. Later that year, the band partnered with Hong Kong’s Lane Crawford to open a shop-in-shop in the department store to test out the local market.
Entering Hong Kong is a "natural decision" for J.Crew, according to CEO Mickey Drexler, as the city holds a significant position for international retailers.
