China DaChan Food’s processed foods business up 57pc

China’s chicken meat products supplier DaChan Food (Asia) Limited on Friday said the sales income jumped 12.6 percent to CNY 9.55 billion (USD1.46b) for the year ended on 31 December 2010 compared with the same period of the previous year. Gross profit increased year-on-year from CNY600 million to CNY660m (USD100.6m). The processed foods business rose 57 percent year on year, becoming one of the most important sources of income for the company.

During the year under review, DaChan Food launched its campaign to sell branded chicken meat products in small packages, a move which was well received in the market. The company plans to launch more products of a similar nature in 2011.

The chicken meat business of DaChan Food recorded a turnover of CNY4.53b (USD690.3m), an 11.6 percent increase compared with the same period of the previous year. Gross profit also increased year on year by 75 percent. The turnover of the feeds business surged 6.5 percent to CNY4.07 b (USD620.43m).

The company aims to further optimize the feed and processed food product portfolios, increase focused research and development efforts, and raise the proportion of higher value-added products in the product mix, in order to further solidify its market-leading position in the future, according to Han Jia-Hwan, the chairman of the board of DaChan Food.
