Macau’s Sands Cotai Central to unveil 38 new retailers this month

Sands Cotai Central is more than doubling its retail offering, as it prepares to unveil 38 new retailers on 20 September, when the integrated resort at the centre of the Cotai Strip unveils the second phase of its development to the public. In addition to the new shops, the launch features the opening of the world’s largest Sheraton hotel at Sands Cotai Central, along with new world-class restaurants, an exciting Polynesian-themed gaming area and additional space for meetings and conventions, including one of Asias largest ballrooms. The expansion comes on the heels of last months celebration of the fifth anniversary of the Cotai Strip, marked by the 28 August 2007 opening of sister resort The Venetian Macao.

The expanded retail offering includes some boutiques new to Macau: Maryling (luxury womens fashion), Oysho (lingerie and casual wear from Spain) and Liu Jo (ready-to-wear women’s fashion from Italy). The new openings also include the return of Ralph Lauren to the Cotai Strip, and technology aficionados will be happy to know that New Horizon is also joining the mix of retailers, as Macau’s largest Apple Authorised Reseller at approximately 4,200 square feet (390 square metres).

With the new store openings on 20 September, Shoppes Cotai Central will offer a total of 70 retailers, with plans to expand to over 90 by early 2014. A footbridge on the way means that the interconnected Shoppes Cotai – consisting of Shoppes Grand Canal at The Venetian Macao, Shoppes at Four Seasons at The Plaza Macao and Shoppes Cotai Central at Sands Cotai Central – will feature a total of approximately 600 duty-free shops to choose from, spanning the full spectrum of shopping choices, from family to high-end luxury. Without a doubt, Shoppes Cotai is the single largest duty-free shopping experience in Macau – soon to be all under one roof.

Gourmands will enjoy their introduction to the Koufu food court, which is also making its Macao debut. Already a successful concept that has garnered rave reviews in Singapore, Koufu combines nostalgic Singapore coffee shop traditions with modern food court comfort and choice. Located on Level 3 of Shoppes Cotai Central, it will provide 23 authentic Pan-Asian and international cuisine choices.

"We are very proud of our latest round of additions to Shoppes Cotai Central," says David Sylvester, Senior Vice President of Sands Retail, Las Vegas Sands Corp. "Our visitors will find an expanded choice in shopping and dining, conveniently located at the absolute centre of the very best offerings on the Cotai Strip – accommodation, entertainment, gaming, meetings and conventions, and of course retail and dining. Our innovative integrated resort city gives shoppers the unique experience of being able to stay at any one of our world-class resorts, while having convenient access to 600 duty-free shops across all three properties. Shoppes Cotai and Sands Cotai Central put it all within reach."
