Sony sees market share rise in ILC market in 2010

As consumer demand in Taiwan is shifting quickly toward interchangeable-lens camera (ILC), which include both DSLR and mirror-less models, the second largest player Sony is expected to see its share in Taiwan’s ILC market in 2010 increase on year, according to sources from the related players.

Taiwan’s ILC sales in 2010 are expected to rise from 81,000 units in 2009 to 144,000 units with Sony, benefiting from its NEX series mirrorless models, to see its share rise from 15.5 percent in 2009 to 27.2 percent in 2010.

Canon, which had taken 47.6 percent of market share in 2009, is expected to see the percentage drop to only 38 percent.
