Tiphone Mobile Indonesia, Global Teleshop post higher earnings in 2013 on handset sales

Tiphone Mobile Indonesia and Global Teleshop – two listed mobile-phone retailers – reported higher earnings last year, on the back of rising consumer demand for smartphones.

Net income at Tiphone, one of the leading top-up voucher and handset distributors, rose 45 percent to IDR295 billion (USD26 million) in 2013 from the previous year as strong sales growth compensated soaring revenue costs.

Sales climbed 28 percent to IDR10.5 trillion, while revenue costs increased 27 percent to IDR9.86 trillion.
