Asos 4Q sales up 47pc

UK online fashion retailer Asos on Thursday reported a strong finish to the financial year 2012-13 with retail sales jumping 47 percent to GBP207.9 million (USD196m) for the fourth quarter from GBP141m in the same period prior year. The UK market registered the highest growth of 49 percent increase in sales during the quarter, followed by the 47 percent increase in the international market.

Overall group revenues grew 46 percent for the quarter to GBP212.5m. International sales counted for 64 percent of total retail sales over the period compared with 65 percent last year.

The online fashion and beauty retailer expects profit before tax for the year ended on 31 August 2013 to be "marginally above expectations".

Asos sells over 65,000 branded and own-label products through its website. By the end of August, Asos’s websites attract 21.3 million unique visitors a month. It had 13.2 million registered users and 7.1 million active customers.
