HKTDC’s Online Marketplace wins US Web awards

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s (HKTDC) portal, hktdc.com, has earned two top honours at the international WebAwards 2014.

The website’s Product Magazines section and the Small-Order Zone Online Transaction Platform won the “Best Website” awards in their respective categories.

WebAwards 2014 is an annual competition organized by the US-based Web Marketing Association (WMA) and it is the third consecutive year that the HKTDC sites have been honoured.

HKTDC is the international marketing arm for traders, manufacturers and service providers. With a network of more than 40 offices worldwide, it seeks to create opportunities for small- and medium-sized enterprises and connects international buyers and sellers through its integrated marketing services, including trade fairs.

The website’s Product Magazines section was cited for publishing multimedia magazines that maximize sourcing and promotion effectiveness.

HKTDC has over 20 magazine titles that reach some five million global buyers in more than 200 counties. The magazines are also the official magazines of the HKTDC trade fairs. The magazines are available in print or electronic and mobile versions.

The Small-Order Zone section, on the other hand, won the Best Directory or Search Engine Website. This section of the HKTDC website is an online sourcing platform for direct sourcing of high-quality products in small quantities. It showcases selected products exhibited at HKDC trade fairs and other products available for purchase in small quantities of 5-1,000 pieces.

In this year’s competition, WMA said it received more than 1,500 entries from 40 countries in 96 industry categories. The entries were judged on design, copy writing, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, and use of technology.
