Amazon 3Q net sales up 20pc to USD21b

Amazon reported that net sales increased 20 percent to USD20.58 billion in the third quarter, compared with USD17.09 billion in third quarter of 2013.

“As we get ready for this upcoming holiday season, we are focused on making the customer experience easier and more stress-free than ever,” said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com.

Bezos said the company will offer more than 15,000 Lightning Deals with early access to select deals for Prime members, hundreds of millions of products across dozens of categories, curated gift lists and new lineup of products like Kindle Voyage and Fire HD Kids Edition.

"And if you order your gifts on AmazonSmile, we’ll donate a percentage of your purchase price to your favorite charity,” he added.

Kindle Voyage is Amazon’s our thinnest Kindle ever. It also recently launched the all-new USD79 Kindle with a 20 percent faster processor, twice the storage, and new touch interface.

Fire HD Kids Edition, on the other hand, is the first tablet built from the ground up for kids and parents. It provides unlimited access to 5,000 age-appropriate books, movies, TV shows, educational apps, and games.

Amazon also launched the 3D Printed Products store, a marketplace that gives customers access to more than 200 unique print-on-demand products, many that can be customized by material, size, style, and color, and personalized with text and image imprints.

The store includes convenient search tools, interactive 3D preview functionality, and a product personalization widget.

Purdue University and Amazon likewise launched the Purdue Student Store on Amazon, a co-branded experience where students can purchase lower-cost textbooks and other college essentials.

In India, Amazon.in became the exclusive marketplace in India to find Xbox One, Xbox 360, Kinect, Xbox Live, Xbox Accessories, and all Microsoft-published Xbox game titles.
