Indonesia’s e-commerce roadmap to include 31 initiatives, ICT Minister says

The Indonesian government will launch a long-awaited road map at the end of this month in a bid to nurture e-commerce business in the country and keep pace with the high growth of online trade, a minister said.

Communication and Information Minister Rudiantara said the government has prepared initiatives to be included in the e-commerce roadmap.

"One of [the initiatives] is for funding. There are many forms of funding, including funding for startups and for established companies. Therefore, we are also discussing the negative investment list in the context of the e-commerce roadmap, and a national payment gateway," Rudiantara said.

According to the minister, Indonesia’s e-commerce industry is expected to rake in up to USD130 billion in 2020 while bridging geographical distances and creating more jobs.
