Amazon introduces new in-app purchasing service

Amazon announced on Tuesday a new in-App purchasing service that allows developers to let customers use their Amazon accounts to purchase virtual goods and currencies from within Mac, PC and Web-based games.

Under the scheme, Mac, PC and Web, Android and Kindle Fire developers would be able to offer Amazon customers a convenient, trusted and secure buying experience.

Customers can pay for their purchases via credit cards, gift certificates or promotional credit associated with their current Amazon account. They would automatically benefit from Amazon’s fraud detection technology and limit exposure to fraud.

Moreover, in-app items will automatically be available on Amazon.com, and in-app purchases can show up on best seller lists, recommendations and merchandising campaigns, helping customers discover new games and items.

The Amazon Digital Games store itself offers customers more than 3,000 games including free-to-play and massively multiplayer online games, and makes it easy for developers to distribute their games.

Mike Frazzini, Director Amazon Games, said the company is committed to building services that make monetization easier for developers.
