NEC, Ingram Micro partner to expand retail business

NEC Corporation of Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and Ingram Micro Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. are partnering to expand NEC’s retail business in Malaysia.

Under the agreement, Ingram Micro will, a technology distributor and supply-chain services provider will market, sell and support NEC’s entire portfolio of retail products in the country and grow market share for their retail products and solutions.

NEC currently supports approximately 53,000 locally and globally linked retail stores across various industries in Japan, the US, China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and remains as the leading retail solutions provider in Japan.

According to the Malaysia Retailer Association, Malaysia’s total retail sales for 2011 exceeded MYR83 billion (USD27.1 billion) and the industry registered a growth rate of 8.1 percent in 2011.

The association remains optimistic of their businesses for first quarter of 2012, with expectations of sales to rise by 12.1 percent.
