Thailand’s 7-Eleven stores deploys next-gen POS terminals

CP ALL Public Company Limited (CP ALL), the Bangkok-based operator of 7-Eleven stores, is deploying the nex-generation point-of-sale (POS) terminals.

The company has approximately 7, 500 7-Eleven stores in Thailand, and is planning to increase that number to 10,000 stores by 2018. Each store will be equipped with two or three POS terminals from NEC Corp.

The new POS terminals are 60 percent smaller than the current terminals in use at 7-Eleven stores in Thailand, has a 12-inch twin-screen display, rotating keyboard and printer and improved CPU processing performance and memory capacity.

NEC Corp., which has been providing POS terminals to 7-Eleven Thailand since 2006, said the integrated POS terminals are also backlit using LEDs, which last longer and cost less to replace.
