Acer initiates legal action against former president
Taiwanese PC vendor Acer Inc. said on Tuesday that it has taken legal action against its former CEO and president Gianfranco Lanci for violating the non-compete clause in his contract.
Acer confident of 1Q profits despite sales revenue drop
Taiwanese PC maker Acer Inc. will make a profit in the first quarter of this year as it has completed key management reshuffles in 2011, company chairman J.T. Wang said on Monday. According to Wang, Acer has put a lot of effort into reducing inventory in retail channels and collecting accounts receivable for the past nine months, and the company's operation now has fewer burdens, thanks to the two major management reshuffles in April and November last year.
Acer forecasts revenue growth to resume in 1Q
Taiwanese computer maker Acer Inc. will resume revenue growth from the bottom in the first quarter of this year after completing a reconstruction of its management team, Barclays Capital said on Sunday. The investment bank said that Acer has completed its senior management reshuffle that started in March 2011 with the appointment of Eva Ho, who will serve as the new CFO and spokesperson taking effect on 1 March.

Walter Deppeler named Acer EMEA president
Acer on Thursday announced the appointment of deputy president of Acer Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) Walter Deppeler as the new Acer EMEA president, with immediate effect.
Gianfranco Lanci, who served as both CEO and president of Acer Inc., and president of Acer EMEA, resigned from the company on the same day.
Born in Baden in 1957, Deppeler joined Acer in 1997, and currently serves as senior corporate vice president of Acer Inc. and as deputy president of Acer EMEA.
Acer focuses on China, Brazil
Acer Inc. is poised for growth in China, a market where the Taiwan computer maker has lagged its global rivals, as it looks to emerging economies to help it leapfrog past Hewlett-Packard Co. as the world's biggest notebook and notebook computer maker by shipments this year or next, its CEO Gianfranco Lanci said on 31 March.
