Thailand's Central Silom Complex unveils new look
Thailand's Central Department Store Co will spend THB250 million (USD8m) to give its Silom Complex branch a facelift in 2012.
President Yuwadee Chirathivat said the budget will be used to renovate the Central Department Store and Tops Supermarket at the Silom Complex branch, which has been closed since Saturday.
This is the first big renovation of the Central Department Store in the Silom Complex in two decades of business.
Thailand's CDS grows 30pc in 1H
Sales of Thailand's Central Department Store Co (CDS) grew by 30 percent in the first half this year, the highest in five years.
Yuwadee Chirathivat, the CDS president, said its retail sales from 13 Central department stores excluding Central Lat Phrao and Zen Department Store, reached THB14 billion (USD469.7 million) in the first six months.
Thailand's Central woos online shoppers
Thailand’s Central Department Store Co (CDS) is moving further into online shopping to expand its services to a wider customer group nationwide.
President Yuwadee Chirathivat said CDS would start providing services via its website from 15 October. It has invested THB50 million (USD1.7m) in the online venture.
Initially, the site will offer 5,000 products in eight categories. The target customers for online shopping are mainly people aged 25-34 years who are heavy internet users, as well as more affluent consumers in the 35-49 age range.
