P&G delivers 4pc organic sales growth for the Oct-Dec quarter

P&G 4Q11 net profits up 15pc
Procter & Gamble on Friday said net profits grew 15 percent to USD2.51 billion for the fourth quarter ended on 30 June from USD2.19b for the same period last year. Net sales jumped 10 percent to USD20.9b. Organic sales, which exclude the impact of acquisitions, divestitures and foreign exchange, grew 5 percent. Unit volume was up 3 percent.
P&G file lawsuit against Luhns GmbH, Germany
The Procter & Gamble Company on last Friday filed a lawsuit against Luhns GmbH, a private-label manufacturer and distributor of Hand Dish Washing liquids, in the District Court of Düsseldorf, Germany (Landgericht Düsseldorf). The lawsuit alleges that Luhns GmbH is violating P&G's intellectual property by manufacturing and selling certain Magnum(TM) private label Hand Dish Washing detergents to a retailer in the UK.
P&G announces organizational changes
The Procter & Gamble Company on Tuesday appointed Patrice Louvet, president of Global Prestige as Global Male Grooming president, succeeding Charles (Chip) V. Bergh who is retiring from P&G after 28 years service to pursue his aspiration to be CEO of a major company.
Joanne Crewes, currently vice president, Global SKII and Female Beauty, Australasian, ASEAN, India, Japan and Korea, has been named Global Prestige president, succeeding Louvet.
P&G files lawsuit against mouthwash manufacturer Vi-Jon, Inc.
The Procter & Gamble Company has filed a lawsuit against Vi-Jon, Inc., a private-label manufacturer and distributor of mouthwash, alledging that Vi-Jon, Inc. is violating P&G's intellectual property by manufacturing and selling its private label mouthwash product to retailers.
P&G announces organisational changes
The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) has announced organisational changes.
Edward D. Shirley, vice chairman – beauty and grooming, will retire from P&G, effective 1 January 2012, after 33 years service. Until that time, effective 1 July 2011, Shirley has been named vice chairman on special assignment, continuing to report to Robert A. McDonald, chairman of the board, president and CEO. He will be focused on ensuring the seamless transition of the beauty and grooming business.
P&G sells Pringles crisp to Diamond Foods
Diamond Foods, Inc. and The Procter & Gamble Company on 5 April announced the signing of a definitive agreement to merge the Pringles business into Diamond Foods in a transaction valued at USD2.35 billion.
Pringles is the world's largest potato crisp brand with sales in over 140 countries and manufacturing operations in the US, Europe and Asia. The global, iconic brand has been built over 45 years with a combination of proprietary products, unique package design and significant advertising investment.
P&G says Robert A. Steele retires from vice chairman - Global Health and Well-Being
The Procter & Gamble Company has announced that Robert A. Steele, vice chairman – Global Health and Well-Being, responsible for oral care, feminine care, personal health care, pet care and snacks, will retire from P&G, effective 1 September 2011, after 35 years of service.
Since 1 February, Steele has started serving as vice chairman – Health Care Strategy, reporting to P&G chairman of the board, president and CEO Robert A. McDonald.
P&G to use innovative sustainable packaging
The Procter & Gamble Company has announced plans to use renewable, sustainable, sugarcane-derived plastic on selected packaging of its Pantene Pro-V, CoverGirl and Max Factor brands. Sugarcane-derived plastic is a significant development in sustainable packaging because it is made from a renewable resource, unlike traditional plastic, which is made from non-renewable petroleum. The new material is made in an innovative process that transforms sugarcane into high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic, a type commonly used for product packaging.
P&G closes acquisition of Ambi-Pur from Sara Lee
Procter & Gamble (P&G) has completed its acquisition of the Ambi-Pur brand from Sara Lee Corp. for EUR320 million (USD404 million). Ambi-Pur is a leading global air-care brand with a presence in 80 countries, and also has several toilet-care products, with a strong presence in Asia.
