Global sales of Android-based smartphones are expected to grow from 60 million units in 2010 to 180 million units in 2011 and over 400 million units in 2014, according to Sony Ericsson vice president and chief technical officer (CTO) Jan Uddenfeldt.
Sony Ericsson plans to launch at least eight Android-based smartphones in 2011 compared to four models in 2010, Uddenfeldt indicated.
