E-commerce start-up GDFS to launch Hong Kong store

A new shop-and-collect e-commerce platform that claims to be travel retail’s first membership-based cross-border service is poised to launch a new duty free shop in Hong Kong, China this October.

GDFS Club, devised by international supply chain and logistics firm GDFS Travel Retail, offers consumers high-end goods to purchase from duty free and overseas outlets worldwide.

The company handles international logistics, goods clearance and covers customs duties and taxes, enabling its members to benefit from duty free prices when ordering online.

Future outlets earmarked to open this year include in Kunming, Yunnan Province; Chengdu in Sichuan province; Duty Free Store 5and Shijiazhuang and Baoding in Hebei province.

The firm offers services including sea and air shipping, logistics and overseas warehousing for over 80 products in 12 countries and has a total import and export value of more than ¥40 billion.

It owns an express delivery network covering regions in mainland China, Asia & Pacific, western Europe and the east and west coasts of the US.

Product categories available to browse and purchase include beauty and cosmetics, fragrances, fashion and leathergoods, accessories and electronics.
